Overview
This is a tripod censer, or 'jue', crafted in the style of historic Song Dynasty Jun ware. It features a compressed globular body resting on three short cabriole feet, covered in a thick, crackled sky-blue glaze with a characteristic splash of copper-red or purple.
Story
For centuries, Chinese potters have sought to replicate the elusive, cloudy blue glazes of the Song Dynasty. This censer carries that legacy, using copper splashes to create a dramatic purple blush that mimics the heavens.
Maker / Origin
While the specific workshop of this piece is unidentified, it belongs to a long-standing tradition of Chinese revivalist ceramics. Potters in regions like Yuzhou, Henan (the historic home of Jun ware) have spent generations refining techniques to replicate these imperial-style glazes for collectors worldwide.
Condition & Value
The glaze shows a beautiful, intentional crackle network. There is some minor surface grime and expected wear on the unglazed feet, but no visible chips, cracks, or structural damage. Excellent preservation of the glaze color. Value is driven by the age of the revival piece and the quality of the glaze.
