Overview
This is a set of original footwear accessories for Samantha Parkington, one of the three inaugural American Girl dolls. It features cream-colored gaiters with pearl-style buttons and black-soled boots, still preserved in their original protective plastic and accompanied by the character's signature trading cards.
Story
Pleasant Rowland founded Pleasant Company in 1986 to provide girls with dolls that had historical depth. Samantha represented the Edwardian era of 1904. These gaiters reflect the high-fashion standards of a wealthy orphan in the early 20th century.
Maker / Origin
Pleasant Rowland, a former educator, created the American Girl brand to combine history with play. Before being sold to Mattel in 1998, the 'Pleasant Company' era was known for high-quality materials and detailed historical accuracy. Collectors specifically hunt for items from this pre-1998 period.
Condition & Value
The items appear to be in excellent, possibly unused condition within their original plastic. The accompanying cards show crisp edges. Keeping the set together in the original box significantly preserves its value. Value is driven by the 'Pleasant Company' branding and the presence of the original cards and packaging.
