A classic mid-century portable slide storage chest designed specifically for Stereo Realist 3D format slides. The back of the case features the iconic gold-stamped 'Stereo Realist' logo.
Story
In the 1950s, the Stereo Realist camera brought 3D photography into the American living room. This case documented a traveler's journey through mid-century Africa, capturing places like Victoria Falls and Epulu on vivid, three-dimensional film.
Maker / Origin
The Stereo Realist system was manufactured by the David White Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Originally a maker of surveying instruments, the company revolutionized amateur photography in 1947 by introducing a stereo camera that became a massive success, beloved by Hollywood stars like Harold Lloyd and Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Condition & Value
The case shows light wear on the tweed fabric and minor scuffs on the brown textured ends. The brass hardware shows light oxidation but remains fully functional, and the gold-stamped logo on the back is still legible. Overall very good vintage condition; well-preserved condition maintains its value.
