Overview
This is an exquisite bone china miniature teacup and saucer set featuring a vibrant pink and gold geometric or floral pattern. Produced under the 'Paladin China' trade name, it represents the height of early 20th-century Staffordshire miniature porcelain production.
Story
In 1925, British potters miniaturized their finest wares to satisfy a global craze for tiny collectibles. This set survived decades of delicate handling, carrying the pride of Staffordshire's coal-fired kilns in the palm of your hand.
Maker / Origin
E. Hughes & Co. operated the Opal Works in Fenton from 1889 to 1953, adopting the 'Paladin' trade name around 1914. They were highly regarded for their fine bone china tea sets and successfully pivoted to producing high-quality miniatures and souvenir ware during the interwar period.
Condition & Value
The underside shows minor shelf wear and light dust, but the transfer mark is crisp and fully legible. There are no visible cracks or chips on the foot rim, though the gilding on the handle should be inspected for rubbing. Excellent condition with intact gilding commands the higher end of the range.
