This exquisite porcelain dish combines a pale celadon molded petal rim with a vibrant underglaze cobalt blue medallion depicting twin fish in a dynamic circular flow. The reverse features an apocryphal six-character Ming Dynasty Chenghua mark ('大明成化年製'), a revered historic homage frequently used by master potters in Arita.

Maker / Origin
Produced in the famed ceramic center of Arita in Saga Prefecture, where porcelain was first manufactured in Japan in the early 17th century. Kilns throughout the region developed distinctive combinations of molded celadon glazes (seiji) and underglaze blue painting (sometsuke) to cater to refined domestic banquets and international connoisseurs.
