Maker / Origin

Fujii Shumei (1936–2017) was a highly celebrated Arita-yaki master craftsman known for his innovative techniques, particularly his 'leaf stencil' designs and dramatic landscape porcelain. Born in Arita, the birthplace of Japanese porcelain, he established his own kiln and won numerous national awards, bridging the gap between traditional folk craft and high-end modern art.

Condition & Value

The porcelain appears to be in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or hairline fractures. The overglaze gold enamel shows minimal rubbing, which is highly desirable as this gilding is easily worn away by handling. The original wooden box shows light, natural aging but remains structurally sound and complete.
