Overview
A vibrant hand-painted majolica serving platter featuring a geometric 'Geometrico' border and a central sun-like motif. This piece represents the high-end artisan tradition of Deruta, a town synonymous with Italian ceramics for over 500 years.
Story
Deruta has been a pottery powerhouse since the Renaissance. This platter carries that torch, hand-signed by Franco Mari, a master who helped modernize traditional Umbrian patterns for international tables in the late 20th century.
Maker / Origin
Franco Mari is a celebrated name in the Deruta ceramic tradition, known for his 'Dipinto a Mano' (painted by hand) workshop. His studio became famous for blending the rigorous historical standards of Italian tin-glazed earthenware with a brighter, more contemporary color palette.
Condition & Value
The platter appears to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible chips or 'crazing' (fine cracks in the glaze). The foot ring shows expected light shelf wear. Excellent condition maintains the top-end value. Value is driven by the Franco Mari signature and the size of the platter.
