In 1978, California designer Donna Salem patented a brilliant concept: a puzzle-like art piece that turned the viewer into the sculptor. Using slotted aluminum plates, anyone could build a unique, shimmering Brutalist masterpiece on their coffee table.
Maker / Origin
Donna Salem Assemblies operated out of Calabasas, California, during the height of the West Coast design boom. Salem's work focused on participatory art, believing that the public should not just observe modern art, but actively shape it. Her modular kits are highly sought after today by collectors of vintage puzzles, executive desk toys, and mid-century modern design.
Condition & Value
