Overview
An exquisite collection of Bohemian cut-to-clear crystal wine goblets, featuring two distinct styles: a series of amber-stained glasses intricately engraved with traditional forest and wildlife scenes (Egermann style), and a vibrant array of multi-colored, geometric starburst-cut hock glasses.
Story
In the 1830s, Friedrich Egermann of Northern Bohemia perfected a secret chemical process using copper to stain crystal a deep, lustrous amber-red. This breakthrough allowed artisans to engrave incredibly detailed, miniature woodland landscapes directly into the glass. These goblets carry on that exact 19th-century tradition, turning a simple toast into a walk through a mystical, sunlit Bohemian forest.
Maker / Origin
While unsigned, these goblets are crafted in the legendary style of Egermann, a name synonymous with Bohemian glass artistry since the early 19th century. Based in Nový Bor, the region's glassworks became world-famous for their mastery of high-lead crystal, brilliant cutting, and innovative staining techniques that survived world wars and nationalization.
Condition & Value
The goblets appear to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible chips, flea bites, or cloudiness in the crystal. The engraving on the amber goblets remains sharp and the colors on the hock glasses are vibrant. Excellent condition like this preserves the maximum collector value.
