Overview
A classic piece of American ceramic history, this square vegetable bowl features the iconic concentric rings and Art Deco styling that defined the Fiesta line. The 'Ivory' glaze is one of the original six colors introduced at the line's launch, offering a sophisticated, creamy alternative to the bolder hues of the era.
Story
Launched in 1936 during the Great Depression, Fiesta was designed to bring affordable cheer to American tables. This specific square shape was part of the original release, surviving through the WWII era before being discontinued in 1951.
Maker / Origin
The Homer Laughlin China Company hired designer Frederick Hurten Rhead to create a line that emphasized shape over pattern. Rhead’s genius was in the simplicity of the 'rings,' which allowed the vibrant glazes to become the star of the show, eventually making Fiesta the most collected dinnerware in U.S. history.
Condition & Value
The bowl shows some surface scuffing and minor discoloration on the underside, which is typical for its age. No major chips are visible in the photos, though the glaze appears to have some light utensil marks. Condition is average for a used kitchen piece. Vintage ivory pieces are common but highly sought after for neutral decor.
