Overview
An elegant, organic triple-bud vase featuring three fused, slender necks that flare gently at the rims, finished in a striking deep cobalt blue glaze with a frothy, light blue drip accent at the openings. The underside is clearly incised with the 'Anna Van Briggle' mark, 'Colo Spgs', and the iconic double-A logo, representing one of America's longest-running art pottery traditions.
Story
Introduced in the mid-20th century, the 'Anna Van Briggle' line honored the co-founder who kept the pottery alive after her husband's tragic death. This triple-bud design allowed a single stem in each neck to create an instant, elegant floral arrangement.
Maker / Origin
Artus Van Briggle, a brilliant artist from Rookwood Pottery, founded the company in Colorado Springs in 1901 but died of tuberculosis just three years later. His widow, Anne Lawrence Gregory (Anna), took over the reins, guiding the company through its most critical transition and cementing its legacy as an American Art Nouveau powerhouse.
Condition & Value
The vase appears to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible chips, cracks, or crazing in the glossy glaze. The unglazed clay bottoms are clean, and the incised signatures are crisp. Excellent condition like this helps secure the higher end of the value range.
