Overview
A set of six lead crystal brandy snifters featuring the iconic Lismore pattern, characterized by its signature diamond and wedge cuts. These vessels are designed with a wide bowl and narrow rim to concentrate the bouquet of fine spirits, reflecting the pinnacle of Irish glassmaking.
Story
In 1952, designer Miroslav Havel drew inspiration from the gothic windows of Lismore Castle. This pattern became the most popular crystal design in history, gracing tables from the White House to the finest estates in Europe.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1783 by brothers George and William Penrose, Waterford became world-renowned for 'flint glass' of unsurpassed clarity. After a long closure, the factory was revived in 1947 by Czech immigrants who brought Bohemian techniques to Ireland, creating the modern luxury brand we know today.
Condition & Value
The glasses appear clear with no visible 'clouding' or 'sick glass' from dishwasher use. Assuming no chips to the delicate rims or bases, they are in excellent collector quality. Any small flea bites on the cut edges would reduce the set's value by 20-30%.
