Overview
A dramatic hand-blown studio art glass vessel featuring an undulating, folded fan form with a vibrant red-orange exterior, applied feathered or murrine-style roundels along the lower body, and a contrasting iridescent, pastel-cloud interior. The rim is finished with a dark contrasting glass lip wrap.
Story
Born from the American Studio Glass revolution of the 1960s onward, this piece celebrates pure molten choreography. Its spontaneous folds and layered color field pay clear homage to Dale Chihuly's iconic 1980s 'Macchia' series.
Maker / Origin
While reminiscent of the masterworks coming out of the Pilchuck Glass School founded in Washington state, independent glass studios worldwide adopted these complex multi-layered color and wrap techniques during the late 20th-century glass renaissance.
