Overview

An elegant, lobed porcelain vase featuring a pale celadon glaze with molded ruyi-head and floral details, accented by dual loop handles. The body is set with reserve panels finely painted in famille rose enamels depicting birds among blossoming branches, paired with poetic calligraphic inscriptions on the sides.

Story

Created in the grand imperial style, this vase features a poetic inscription celebrating the arrival of spring. The combination of soft celadon glaze and vibrant enamel panels mimics the highly prized masterpieces of the Qianlong Emperor's court.

Maker / Origin

While bearing a Qianlong apocryphal seal mark on the base, this piece was crafted by skilled artisans in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China. During the late Qing and Republic periods, workshops specialized in reviving the complex, multi-technique imperial designs of the 18th century for a global market of connoisseurs.

Condition & Value

The vase appears to be in very good condition with no visible cracks, chips, or major glaze losses. There is minor wear to the gilt borders and some expected shelf wear on the unglazed foot rim. Excellent condition preserves the maximum decorative and collector value.

Market Analysis

Comparable demand stays strongest where maker, originality, and venue confidence line up. Broader examples still trade, but the range tightens quickly when provenance, condition, or selling lane fit is missing.

Value Drivers

  • Strong maker attribution with credible period details
  • Better-than-average condition for the category
  • Broader demand rises when presentation and finish feel intact

Concerns

  • Decorative-only demand limits the ceiling
  • Surface wear or missing provenance can compress the range fast
  • Regional sale lanes often underperform specialist venues
