Overview
This is a nostalgic reproduction of the iconic Henry Dreyfuss-designed Model 302, the first phone to house its ringer in the base. While it mimics the 1930s 'Lucy Phone' aesthetic, the push-button 'dial' and modern features like 'Flash' and 'Redial' reveal its later utility.
Story
The original 1937 design was so sturdy it was nicknamed the 'tank.' This version brought that Art Deco glamour into the digital age, replacing the slow mechanical rotary with convenient buttons for a new generation.
Maker / Origin
While the original was a masterpiece by industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss for Western Electric, this reproduction belongs to the 'Retro-Tech' boom. Companies in the late 20th century realized people missed the heavy, tactile feel of old Bakelite and began recreating these silhouettes with modern circuit boards.
Condition & Value
The phone shows significant surface dust and some yellowing to the plastic buttons, which is common with age. The finger stop appears to be intact, but the overall finish is matte from wear; a deep cleaning would significantly improve its shelf appeal. Condition is fair.
