Overview
A diverse assembly of American nickel silver flatware featuring various patterns from the Rogers family of silversmiths. This set includes a rare glass-handled ladle and a mix of dinner forks, knives, and specialized spoons that showcase the industrial transition of American dining.
Story
The Rogers name was the 'Apple' of the 19th-century silver world, so famous that dozens of relatives fought for the right to use it. This set represents the democratization of luxury for the growing American middle class.
Maker / Origin
Simeon and George Rogers were part of a complex dynasty of Connecticut silversmiths who pioneered electroplating in America. Their company was eventually absorbed into the massive International Silver Company, which consolidated the industry's greatest craftsmen under one roof.
Condition & Value
The pieces show significant tarnish and surface oxidation consistent with long-term storage. Some blades show signs of pitting; however, nickel silver is incredibly resilient and much of this can be revived with a deep cleaning. The condition reduces value by roughly 40% compared to a polished set.
