Overview
This is a beautifully hand-carved jadeite jade sculpture depicting the traditional Chinese 'Three Abundances' motif, featuring a large peach, a finger citron (Buddha's hand), and pomegranates. The carver has masterfully utilized the natural color variations of the stone, integrating the pale green, icy white, and warm honey-yellow inclusions into the leaves and fruit.
Story
For centuries, Chinese scholars surrounded themselves with symbolic stone carvings. This piece represents the 'Three Abundances'—blessings of long life, wealth, and many descendants. The sticker on the base suggests a past life in a registered collection or auction house.
Maker / Origin
While the individual carver remains anonymous, this piece comes from the highly skilled lapidary workshops of 20th-century China. These artisans trained for years to master the art of 'reading the stone,' a process where the carver studies a raw boulder of jadeite for weeks to decide how to carve it so that natural color veins align perfectly with the subject matter.
Condition & Value
The carving appears to be in very good condition with no obvious major chips, cracks, or repairs visible in the photos. There are natural internal fractures (cleavage lines) inherent to the jadeite stone, which is normal.
