Overview
This porcelain baluster vase features sculpted elephant-head loop handles and dense polychrome overglaze enamel decoration. The body is adorned with figural court narrative reserves set against iron-red diaper patterns and turquoise-ground floral scrolls. The base bears an apocryphal six-character underglaze blue Kangxi reign mark.

Elephant handles in Chinese porcelain symbolize peace and good fortune, wordplaying on 'taiping youxiang'. Adorned with scholars and auspicious symbols, this vase brought classical imperial grandeur into 20th-century homes.

Produced by skilled artisans in Jingdezhen, the historic porcelain capital of China. During the late Qing and Republic eras, workshops frequently applied earlier imperial reign marks—such as Kangxi or Qianlong—as an artistic homage to golden ages of ceramic production rather than to deceive.
