Overview
A hand-wrought earthenware pitcher featuring a highly sculptural 'scroll' handle and a rich, variegated iron-wash glaze.
Story
The village of La Borne in central France became a magnet for visionary potters in the 1960s and 70s, reviving ancient wood-firing techniques to create art that felt unearthed rather than manufactured.
Maker / Origin
Fance Frank (1931–2008) was a master of form who bridged the gap between American spontaneity and the rigorous traditions of French stoneware.
Condition & Value
The pitcher appears to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible chips or structural cracks. The variations in the glaze and the 'rough' spots on the handle are intentional 'kiln-kissed' effects characteristic of this style. Excellent preservation of the painted signature on the base.

Comparable demand stays strongest where maker, originality, and venue confidence line up. Broader examples still trade, but the range tightens quickly when provenance, condition, or selling lane fit is missing.
