While often unsigned by individual artisans, Italy's Bay of Naples—specifically Torre del Greco—has been the global capital of shell cameo carving since the early 19th century. Generational family workshops specialized in turning raw Caribbean helmet and conch shells into wearable classical art.

Condition & Value

The carved shell face appears crisp with fine detail intact and no obvious structural fractures visible from the front. The reverse shows natural shell growth texture and some minor surface wear on the frame edge. Shell cameos in excellent, crack-free condition with functional clasps command full market price.
