Overview
A beautiful mid-century American art pottery cornucopia vase featuring a dual-tone pastel glaze. This piece showcases Hull's signature soft matte finish with a delicate baby blue exterior and a contrasting dusty pink interior, rising from a stylized scroll base.
Story
In 1950, a devastating flood and fire destroyed the Hull factory, making surviving pre-1950 pieces like this cornucopia highly prized. It brought affordable, cheerful hand-painted art into post-war American homes.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1905 by Addis Emmet Hull, the Hull Pottery Company became one of the giants of Ohio's famous clay-producing region. They transitioned from utilitarian stoneware to highly decorative art pottery in the 1930s and 40s, capturing the hearts of collectors with their distinctive floral lines and soft, airbrushed pastel glazes.
Condition & Value
The vase appears to be in good vintage condition with no visible cracks or major chips on the delicate scalloped rims. Some light crazing in the glaze is typical for pottery of this age. Excellent condition with no chips or repairs commands a premium.
