Story
Founded in New York in 1921 by three Romanian immigrant brothers, Benrus derived its name from BENjamin, Ralph, and OScar Lazrus. By the 1940s, Benrus had become one of America's favorite watchmakers, gracing the wrists of everyday workers and Hollywood stars alike.
Maker / Origin
The Lazrus brothers started Benrus in New York City, importing fine mechanical movements from Switzerland and casing them in stylish American-designed cases. During World War II, Benrus shifted production to make precision timing devices for military instruments before returning to dominate postwar civilian fashion with bold Art Deco designs.
