Overview
A vibrant, multi-piece English semi-porcelain dinner and tea service featuring hand-painted overglaze enamel floral borders in rich orange, blue, and green. The set showcases classic Art Deco geometric forms, including scalloped, multi-sided rims and stylized handles, accented with delicate gold gilding.
Story
During the 1930s, British potteries brought joy into homes recovering from the Great Depression with bright, hand-painted tablewares. This service, with its bold orange and blue palette, was designed to catch the light of a morning breakfast room. Its cheerful pattern made it a beloved centerpiece for family gatherings.
Maker / Origin
Myott, Son & Co. operated the Alexander Pottery in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, from 1898 until a devastating fire in 1949 destroyed their historic pattern archives. They are highly celebrated today for their Art Deco hand-painted earthenwares, which featured bold, geometric shapes and vivid, thick enamel colors.
Condition & Value
The set appears to be in good vintage condition with vibrant colors. There is some expected light wear to the gold gilding on the rims and potential minor crazing in the glaze, which is typical for Staffordshire semi-porcelain of this era.
