Overview
This is a beautiful pair of authentic, hand-painted Talavera ceramic plates from the world-renowned Uriarte workshop in Puebla, Mexico. Featuring intricate, traditional geometric and floral patterns in vibrant cobalt blue, orange, yellow, and green, these plates showcase the centuries-old majolica glazing technique that defines true Mexican Talavera.
Story
Founded in 1824, Uriarte is one of the oldest and most prestigious producers of authentic Talavera in the world. These plates carry the workshop's official monogram and individual artisan initials, connecting them directly to a legacy of protected craftsmanship.
Maker / Origin
Uriarte Talavera was established by Dimas Uriarte in Puebla, Mexico, and has remained a premier standard-bearer for authentic majolica pottery. The workshop is one of the few certified producers allowed to use the official 'Talavera de Puebla' denomination of origin, adhering to strict traditional methods established in the 16th century.
Condition & Value
Both plates appear to be in excellent vintage condition with no visible chips, cracks, or major glaze losses. The typical minor glaze pops and firing irregularities on the undersides are characteristic of handmade pottery and do not detract from value. Excellent condition preserves their full market value.
