Overview
A rectangular amber glass apothecary-style bottle featuring its original multi-colored paper label for furniture polish. The bottle is embossed with '4 OZ' and retains its classic flared lip, representing the transition from local pharmacy concoctions to national brand syndication.
Story
In 1905, C.H. Goddard formed the A.D.S. to help independent pharmacists compete with emerging giant drug chains. This bottle was a 'private label' powerhouse, sold in thousands of local drugstores across America.
Maker / Origin
The American Druggists Syndicate was a massive cooperative of over 10,000 independent druggists who pooled resources to manufacture their own high-quality products. Based in Long Island City, New York, they became one of the largest pharmaceutical organizations in the world by the 1920s.
Condition & Value
The label shows minor edge wear and light foxing but remains largely intact with vibrant colors. The glass appears free of chips or 'sickness' (cloudiness). The high survival quality of the paper significantly boosts its appeal. Condition is excellent for its age.
