Overview
A charming pair of hand-painted blue-and-white Dutch delftware ceramic salt and pepper shakers modeled as traditional buildings, including a windmill base with a detachable glazed blade cross. The pieces feature hand-lettered 'Delft Holland' and 'Marken-Holland' inscriptions in cobalt underglaze.

Postwar travelers to the Netherlands fell in love with traditional fishing villages like Marken, bringing home miniature Delft windmills to display on mid-century tables.
Maker / Origin
While not produced by De Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft), numerous Dutch pottery workshops flourished from the 1950s through the 1980s producing hand-decorated delftware for the thriving European and American tourist markets.
Condition & Value
Appears to be in very good vintage condition with bright blue decoration and the original blade attachment present. No obvious chips or cracks visible on the glaze. Completeness with intact blades is a big plus for novelty windmill shakers.
