Overview
A classic vintage hanging pendant lamp shade featuring curved panels of creamy white slag glass secured within a leaded metal framework. The shade is designed in a traditional tiered, domed shape that beautifully diffuses light, complete with its original hanging chain and ceiling canopy hardware.
Story
During the 1970s, American homeowners fell back in love with the warm, handmade aesthetic of the turn-of-the-century. This shade was crafted to bring the cozy, nostalgic glow of an old-world tavern or Victorian parlor into a modern suburban dining room.
Maker / Origin
While many of these shades were produced by prominent mid-century lighting manufacturers like Bradley & Hubbard, Quality, or even local stained-glass studios, many remain unsigned. They represent a massive post-war craft revival where manufacturers sought to replicate the labor-intensive copper foil and lead came techniques popularized by Tiffany Studios decades earlier.
Condition & Value
The slag glass panels appear intact without major visible cracks, though some surface grime and oxidation on the lead came joints are present. The hanging chain and ceiling canopy are present, which is excellent for utility, though the wiring should be inspected by an electrician before installation.
