Born from India's centuries-old 'tarkashi' metal inlay tradition, bangles like this flooded Western markets in the 1970s as boho-chic fashion took the world by storm.

Maker / Origin

While unsigned, this piece represents the traditional woodcarving guilds of Northern India, particularly the artisans of Saharanpur who have specialized in fine sheesham wood and brass inlay since the Mughal era. These workshops translated antique architectural inlay techniques into popular wearable export art during the mid-to-late 20th century.

Condition & Value

Shows age-appropriate surface wear, minor darkening of the brass inlay with light patina/verdigris in the recesses, and light scuffs to the wood finish. Inlay appears intact, which supports good wearable vintage condition.
