Maker / Origin

While the specific workshop remains anonymous, this piece represents the pinnacle of the Arita kiln community during the Genroku era. These potters successfully adapted traditional Chinese porcelain techniques to create a distinctly Japanese aesthetic—characterized by asymmetrical compositions, rich gold leafing, and deep cobalt blues—that defined the global luxury market for a generation.

Condition & Value

The charger shows minor surface wear, typical kiln grit, and light rubbing to the overglaze enamels and gilding consistent with its great age. The reverse shows a clean footrim with characteristic firing spur marks and a well-preserved underglaze blue karakusa border.
