Overview
An exquisite Edwardian-era bone china demitasse cup and saucer featuring a vibrant apple-green band overlaid with intricate, heavy 24-karat gold encrusted gilding. The neoclassical scrollwork and delicate laurel leaf borders represent the height of English ceramic luxury from the early 1900s.
Story
Dating to the height of Edwardian high society, this set was crafted for the ritual of after-dinner coffee. Its vibrant green and heavy gold styling was designed to sparkle under the newly fashionable electric dining room chandeliers.
Maker / Origin
Cauldon Ltd. was the 20th-century successor to the legendary Cauldon Place Works, originally founded by Job Ridgway in 1792. Renowned for producing some of the finest bone china in the Staffordshire Potteries, the firm held a Royal Warrant to Queen Victoria and supplied elite retailers worldwide, including Tiffany & Co.
Condition & Value
The set appears to be in excellent antique condition with no visible chips, cracks, or crazing. The heavy gold gilding shows minimal wear, which is rare for tableware of this age. Excellent preservation of the gold paste and green enamel commands the higher end of the value range.
