Overview
This is a 1976 Bicentennial Eisenhower 'Ike' dollar struck at the Denver Mint, featuring dual dating (1776–1976) and Frank Gasparro's portrait of the 34th President. It is encased in a commemorative collector holder from the Bradford Exchange marked 'Brilliant Uncirculated'.
Story
In 1975, the U.S. Mint began striking dual-dated coins to celebrate the nation's 200th birthday. The reverse paired the Liberty Bell with the Moon, celebrating 18th-century freedom alongside 20th-century space exploration.
Maker / Origin
Designed by Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro (obverse) and Dennis R. Williams (reverse), the Bicentennial dollar was part of a nationwide design competition for young artists. Williams was just 21 years old when his Liberty Bell and Moon design was selected.
Condition & Value
