Overview
A classic piece of American Mid-Century pressed glass featuring the iconic 'Hobnail' pattern in a luminous white milk glass. This square-shaped bowl features a starburst-patterned base and a ruffled, scalloped rim that showcases the tactile texture Fenton is famous for.
Story
Fenton introduced the Hobnail pattern in 1939, but it became a staple of American homes in the 1950s. These pieces were the 'affordable luxury' of the post-war era, often given as wedding gifts to brighten a new suburban dining room.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1905, Fenton Art Glass was a family-run powerhouse of American craftsmanship for over a century. They were pioneers in iridescent 'Carnival' glass and later became the world's foremost producer of milk glass, known for their hand-crimped edges.
Condition & Value
The bowl appears to be in good vintage condition with no major cracks visible. There is some minor surface grime that should be cleaned carefully with mild soap. Excellent condition is standard for these, as they were often kept in china cabinets. The $5.99 thrift price was a great find.
