Legend holds that the mythical shishi tests its cubs by tossing them off steep cliffs, nurturing only the strongest. Painted in lively cobalt, this guardian beast transforms a humble tea bowl into a symbol of spiritual courage.

The box label references 'Momoyama jidai-utsushi' (reproduction/homage to Momoyama-period ware) and notes an atelier association. Japanese studio potters frequently revitalize late-16th and early-17th-century tea aesthetics, translating historical mastery into refined utensils for modern tea gatherings.
