Overview
This is a classic Seiko 5 automatic wristwatch featuring the highly regarded 23-jewel caliber 5126 movement. Encased in stainless steel with a beautiful sunburst silver dial, it showcases the iconic recessed crown at the 4 o'clock position and a day-date complication.
Story
Manufactured in July 1969, this watch was born in the very same year Seiko changed horological history forever. Its dial features the lightning bolt logo of the Daini Seikosha factory, representing a fierce internal rivalry that drove Seiko to global dominance.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori, Seiko revolutionized watchmaking through precision engineering. To foster innovation, Seiko split its production into two competing entities: Suwa Seikosha and Daini Seikosha. This healthy internal competition pushed both factories to create some of the most reliable and technologically advanced movements of the 20th century.
Condition & Value
The watch appears to be in excellent vintage condition with light, honest wear on the stainless steel case and bracelet. The dial and hands are remarkably clean with no visible water damage or heavy oxidation. The crystal shows minor surface scratches consistent with age.
