Overview
An exquisite, lifelike sculpture featuring a delicate white bisque porcelain rose and bud set upon a realistically detailed, hand-patinated bronze stem with leaves. This specific piece, titled 'Miss Liberty Rose', was created as a special commission to commemorate the centennial restoration of the Statue of Liberty.
Story
In 1986, America celebrated the centennial of the Statue of Liberty with a massive restoration project. To honor the occasion, Boehm created this limited-edition rose, combining their world-famous delicate porcelain with a rugged bronze stem.
Maker / Origin
Founded by self-taught sculptor Edward Marshall Boehm in 1950, the studio became legendary for its breathtakingly realistic botanical and avian sculptures. Boehm's work was so highly regarded that it was chosen by multiple U.S. Presidents as official diplomatic gifts for foreign heads of state, including Chairman Mao Zedong and Queen Elizabeth II.
Condition & Value
The porcelain petals appear remarkably clean and free of obvious chips, cracks, or repairs, which is rare for these highly fragile pieces. The bronze stem and leaves show a beautiful, undisturbed original patina with no signs of corrosion. Excellent condition overall.
