Overview
This is a classic three-piece set of Tupperware Servalier canisters featuring the iconic 'Instant Seal' accordion-style lids. Decorated in quintessential 1970s earth tones—avocado and olive greens—each canister features a distinct retro gold-stenciled graphic, including a dedicated 'Cookies' jar. These pieces represent a revolution in mid-century kitchenware design and food preservation.
Story
In 1946, Earl Tupper developed a flexible, airtight plastic seal inspired by paint can lids. By the 1970s, these earth-toned Servalier canisters became the ultimate symbol of suburban kitchen organization and social connection.
Maker / Origin
Earl Tupper, a chemist, founded the company, but it was Brownie Wise, a pioneering saleswoman, who made it a household name. Wise invented the 'Tupperware Party' marketing strategy, empowering thousands of women to build their own businesses in the post-war era. Her innovative direct-sales model was so successful that she became the first woman to grace the cover of Business Week in 1954.
Condition & Value
The canisters appear to be in good vintage condition with intact gold graphics, which are highly prone to wearing off. The lids show some minor discoloration but appear structurally sound without the typical warping or splits. Excellent preservation of the graphics greatly helps retain the value of this set.
