Featuring the iconic two-cylinder unstyled/styled transition profile with open-slotted grill and embossed yellow lettering, this represents the very foundation of modern American agricultural toy collecting.
Story
In 1945, Fred Ertl Sr. was on strike from his foundry job and started melting aluminum in his basement to make toy tractors. John Deere loved them so much they gave Ertl official licensing, kicking off a Heartland manufacturing empire.

The Ertl Company was founded in 1945 by Fred Ertl Sr. in Dubuque, Iowa, later moving to Dyersville. Starting with recycled scrap aluminum from broken aircraft pistons, Ertl became the world's leading manufacturer of authentic farm toys, celebrated worldwide by both children and adult collectors.
