This is a lovely cream-glazed earthenware vanity or jewelry box featuring three tripod claw-and-ball style feet and an interior partitioned into three sections. The exterior and domed lid are heavily ornamented with molded relief scenes of dancing putti (cherubs) in a classical landscape, finished in a distinctive fine crackle glaze.

Stamped 'MADE IN JAPAN' after 1921 US McKinley Tariff updates, this box fused Western Neoclassical cherub motifs with traditional Japanese crackle-glazed ceramic techniques for export to glamorous 1920s–30s American vanity tables.

Produced by an unidentified Japanese export pottery workshop during the boom of early 20th-century porcelain and ceramic trade.
