Overview
This is a vintage wooden music box featuring a lithograph lid print in the charming mid-century alpine/Hummel style depicting two children in a field. Inside beneath a protective glass pane sits an authentic Swiss mechanical cylinder movement manufactured by Cuendet, keyed to play 'Lara's Theme' from the iconic 1965 film Doctor Zhivago.
Story
Maurice Jarre's haunting 1965 Oscar-winning melody was so wildly popular that Swiss horologists Cuendet encoded its notes onto miniature pinned brass cylinders, exporting romance worldwide.
Maker / Origin
Cuendet was one of Switzerland's premier mechanical musical movement manufacturers, based in the Sainte-Croix region which served as the world capital of mechanical music. Along with Reuge, Cuendet was renowned for precision-tuned steel combs and miniature clockwork engineering throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.

The music box shows light edge wear and minor surface rubbing to the paper lithograph on the lid. The interior movement appears intact and clean under the glass; original key and stopper pin are present. Intact working condition maintains standard secondary market value.
