Overview

An officially licensed AC/DC oval belt buckle featuring the band's iconic high-voltage lightning bolt logo in vibrant red and white enamel against a deep black background. The reverse features the band's official copyright holder, Leidseplein Presse B.V., dated 2004, alongside a 'Made in USA' stamp.

Story

In 1977, graphic designer Gerard Huerta created the iconic AC/DC lightning logo for their 'Let There Be Rock' album. Decades later, this 2004 buckle was licensed through the band's Dutch holding company to keep the high-voltage rock-and-roll style alive for a new generation of fans.

Maker / Origin

Leidseplein Presse B.V. is the Dutch-based administrative entity that has managed the intellectual property, licensing, and copyrights for AC/DC since the peak of their global success.

Condition & Value

The buckle is in very good condition with minor surface wear and light scuffing on the metal borders. The enamel remains bright, intact, and free of major chips or cracks. Excellent preservation of the enamel keeps this at the higher end of its value range.

Market Analysis

Comparable demand stays strongest where maker, originality, and venue confidence line up. Broader examples still trade, but the range tightens quickly when provenance, condition, or selling lane fit is missing.

Value Drivers

  • Strong maker attribution with credible period details
  • Better-than-average condition for the category
  • Broader demand rises when presentation and finish feel intact

Concerns

  • Decorative-only demand limits the ceiling
  • Surface wear or missing provenance can compress the range fast
  • Regional sale lanes often underperform specialist venues
