Born Jascha Brojdo in Ukraine, Georges Briard was an award-winning painter who reinvented American entertaining with chic, accessible barware that turned the suburban cocktail hour into an art form.
Maker / Origin
Georges Briard was the trade name of Jascha Brojdo (1917–2005), who studied at the Art Institute of Chicago before serving in WWII. Partnering with Max Wille, Briard applied fine-art sensibilities, graphic motifs, and 22k gold accents to glassware, melamine, wood, and metal, winning the prestigious Museum of Modern Art Good Design Award in 1953.
