This is a Wedgwood matte stoneware jug featuring light blue jasperware adorned with dark cobalt blue relief borders and white neoclassical applied reliefs (sprigging). Developed in the 1770s by Josiah Wedgwood after thousands of failed experiments, jasperware redefined British ceramics. This piece continues that legacy with rare tri-color sprigging, stamped '88' for its 1988 production year.
