Overview
A striking seven-piece Italian liqueur set featuring a tall, slender decanter and six matching stemmed glasses in deep cobalt blue. The set is adorned with hand-applied 24k gold leaf filigree in a 'Moresco' or Persian-inspired pattern, typical of the mid-century Tuscan glass revival.
Story
Post-war Italy saw a boom in 'Verde' and 'Cobalto' glass production as artisans in Empoli pivoted from wine bottles to high-fashion decor. This set was likely a prized wedding gift, designed to bring Mediterranean glamour to a 1960s sideboard.
Maker / Origin
While often unsigned, these pieces were produced by various glassworks in the Empoli region, such as Rossini or Stelvia. These factories were famous for their 'optical' glass and vibrant colors, becoming a staple of Italian exports to high-end department stores worldwide during the 1960s.
Condition & Value
The gold filigree appears remarkably intact with minimal 'flea bites' or rubbing. The clear glass handle and stopper show no visible internal fractures. Excellent preservation of the gilt rims suggests this was rarely used. Condition is a major value driver here. Complete sets with the original stopper are increasingly rare.
