This is a mid-century Swiss mechanical dress watch from Cyma featuring an exquisite textured 'waffle' or 'honeycomb' dial, subsidiary seconds, and applied golden hour markers. Powered by one of Cyma's renowned in-house calibers equipped with proprietary Cymaflex shock protection, it represents the golden age of Swiss manufacture.
Story
In 1950s Switzerland, Cyma was producing over 4,000 movements daily. This watch features their signature Cymaflex shock-protection, an engineering breakthrough designed to make everyday dress watches virtually shatterproof.
Maker / Origin
Founded in 1862 by the Schwob brothers in Le Locle, Cyma partnered with Henri Sandoz's Tavannes Watch Co. to become one of Switzerland's largest precision watchmakers. At their height, they were renowned for exceptional in-house movements (such as the Calibre 586K) and won numerous timing observatory prizes.
Condition & Value
The dial displays a pleasing vintage patina with light, honest age spotting; hands and applied indices show slight tarnish. The case shows minor surface scratches consistent with use, and the band is a modern replacement. Original dial condition helps retain collector appeal.
