Overview
An exceptional archive of original ephemera and technical documentation for the iconic IMSAI 8080 microcomputer. The collection includes user welcome letters, motherboard manuals dated July 1977, errata sheets, promotional brochures, and a copy of 'The Complete Microcomputer System' catalog from August 1976.
Story
In 1975, IMSAI introduced the 8080, an improved clone of the Altair 8800 that became a cornerstone of the personal computer revolution. Film fans recognize this blue-and-magenta machine as the star of the 1983 movie 'WarGames'.
Maker / Origin
Founded by William Millard in San Leandro, California, IMSAI Manufacturing Corporation was one of the earliest microcomputer companies. Designed by chief engineer A. Joseph Killian—whose printed signature appears on the welcome letter—the IMSAI 8080 popularized the S-100 bus standard and proved personal computers could be commercial products.
Condition & Value
Overall very good vintage condition. Paper shows mild age toning, minor edge creasing, and light spotting/staining on the bottom corner of the welcome letter. The manual covers remain bright and legibly intact. Original 1970s microcomputer paper items are highly sought after by vintage tech collectors.
