Overview
This is a molded hexagonal porcelain deep bowl decorated in the classic Kinrande (gold brocade) palette, featuring underglaze cobalt blue paired with vibrant iron-red enamels and gilt highlights. The interior basin displays a potted floral arrangement flanked by panels of phoenix medallions and scrolling foliage, while the base bears the underglaze blue auspicious mark '富貴長春' (Fuki Chōshun).
Story
During Japan's Genroku era (1688–1704), urban merchant wealth exploded, sparking a craze for opulent 'gold brocade' porcelain. This bowl reflects that lavish aesthetic, wishing the owner wealth and eternal youth through its base mark.
Maker / Origin
Produced by master artisans in the porcelain heartland of Arita, Hizen Province. The kilns here were famous for supplying both the domestic elite and the Dutch East India Company with prized export wares.
Condition & Value
Visually well-preserved with vibrant enamels and intact gilding along the faceted rim, showing minor expected kiln spots and light surface wear. Excellent preservation with original wooden storage box (tomobako) enhances appeal.
