Overview
This is the legendary Victor Credenza, the absolute pinnacle of acoustic, non-electric sound reproduction. Housed in a magnificent, Italian Renaissance-style walnut cabinet, it represents the historic moment when mechanical phonographs fought back against the rise of early commercial radio. It features the revolutionary Orthophonic exponential horn hidden behind its handsome double doors.
Story
Introduced in late 1925, this machine saved the Victor Talking Machine Company from bankruptcy. By using mathematical formulas developed by Western Electric, it reproduced bass notes that had never been heard on a home phonograph before.
Maker / Origin
The Victor Talking Machine Company, founded by Eldridge R. Johnson in 1901, was the undisputed giant of the early recording industry. Famous for its 'His Master's Voice' trademark featuring Nipper the dog, the Camden, New Jersey firm set the global standard for both audio technology and elegant cabinet design.
Condition & Value
The cabinet exterior shows minor surface wear and light scratches consistent with age, but retains its original finish and hardware. The interior felt on the turntable shows some wear, and the blue grille cloth appears to be a modern replacement.
