An authentic vintage 1980s Coleco Cabbage Patch Kids doll featuring light brown yarn hair, blue eyes, and dimpled cheeks, seated with its original birth certificate/adoption document. Mass-produced during the peak of the 1983 toy craze, each doll came with randomized features, a unique name, and official 'adoption' paperwork that revolutionized the toy industry.
Story
In Christmas 1983, frantic parents caused actual riots in department stores across America just to 'adopt' one of these dimpled, yarn-haired dolls.
Maker / Origin
Originally created as soft-sculpture 'Little People' by art student Xavier Roberts (adapting techniques from folk artist Martha Nelson Thomas), the concept was licensed by Coleco in 1982. Coleco streamlined the design by pairing a vinyl head with a soft cloth body, stamping Roberts' signature on every doll's bottom in varying ink colors each production year.
