Overview
This is a classic late-20th-century push-button desk telephone featuring a distinctive two-tone cream and black color scheme. Designed during the transition from utility-owned hardware to consumer-owned electronics, it represents the peak era of landline telephone variety.
Story
Before 1984, Americans had to rent their phones from Ma Bell. This Lonestar model represents the wild west of the post-divestiture era, when consumers could finally buy their own quirky, stylish phones directly from retail stores.
Maker / Origin
Planned Technologies Ltd. was one of many consumer electronics importers that flourished in the late 1980s under the 'Lonestar' brand. They specialized in bringing affordable, FCC-compliant telecommunications equipment manufactured in Hong Kong to the rapidly expanding US consumer market.
Condition & Value
The telephone appears to be in very good cosmetic condition with minimal yellowing of the cream plastic, which is common for this era. There is light surface dust and minor scuffing on the black handset. Excellent functional condition would command the higher end of the range.
