Overview
This is a Japanese porcelain dish decorated in underglaze cobalt blue depicting a traditional riverscape with figures traversing a bridge near pavilions and gnarled pine trees. The underside bears an apocryphal four-character Chinese 'Wanli Nian Zhi' (萬曆年製) mark in underglaze blue, along with an old collection inventory label and export sealing wax residue.
Story
Japanese kilns in Arita frequently painted Ming dynasty reign marks on their finest export wares to honor Chinese mastery. This charming riverscape dish was treasured enough to carry an old collector's wax seal and archive tag.

Produced in the famed Arita region of Saga Prefecture, the birthplace of Japanese porcelain. Starting in the 17th century, Arita potters developed a booming domestic and export trade, often creating works heavily influenced by Chinese kraak and Ming landscape styles.
